November is bringing plenty of reasons to explore Denver beyond the usual restaurant reservations and weekend plans. From neighborhood gallery walks to free museum admission and local performances, the city's arts and culture scene is getting its annual spotlight.
The 20th annual Denver Arts Week runs November 6-15, 2026, featuring nearly 300 events throughout the city. The celebration follows the 49th Denver Film Festival, which wrapped up November 1 after bringing independent, international, and emerging films to Denver audiences.
Whether you're a regular gallery visitor or simply looking for something different to do around town, here's what to know about Denver's upcoming arts celebrations.
Explore Denver's Creative Neighborhoods During First Friday
Friday, November 6, 2026
Denver Arts Week kicks off with expanded First Friday Art Walks throughout the city's creative districts. Galleries and artist studios open their doors, giving visitors a chance to meet local artists, browse original artwork, and explore some of Denver's most interesting neighborhood spaces.
A few districts worth adding to your evening plans include:
Art District on Santa Fe: One of Denver's most established arts communities, known for its independent galleries, contemporary art, and cultural programming. The district's First Friday celebration also features its Día de Muertos festivities.
RiNo Art District: Wander past colorful murals, creative studios, galleries, and independent businesses in one of Denver's most recognizable arts neighborhoods.
Tennyson Street: Explore the Berkeley neighborhood's mix of independent shops, restaurants, and creative spaces along Tennyson Street.
40 West Arts District: Head to Lakewood to discover local galleries, artist studios, and creative businesses just west of Denver.
These art walks are a great way to discover businesses and creative spaces you might normally drive past. You can make an evening of it by choosing one district, grabbing dinner nearby, and stopping into a few galleries along the way.
Make Time for Free Night at the Museums
Saturday, November 7, 2026 | 5-10 p.m.
One of the biggest highlights of Denver Arts Week is Free Night at the Museums. More than a dozen participating cultural institutions will stay open late, offering free general admission for the evening.
It's an opportunity to explore some familiar Denver favorites and discover museums you may not have visited before.
Participating locations include:
Denver Art Museum: Explore its extensive art collections and exhibitions. The special DIVA exhibition requires a separate ticket.
Denver Museum of Nature & Science: Visit the City Park museum for exhibits exploring science, nature, and culture. Some planetarium and theater experiences require additional admission.
History Colorado Center: Discover exhibits exploring Colorado's past, present, and future.
Molly Brown House Museum: Explore the historic Capitol Hill home of Titanic survivor Margaret Brown.
Clyfford Still Museum: See the work and legacy of one of the major figures in Abstract Expressionism.
Forney Museum of Transportation: Get a closer look at historic cars, motorcycles, trains, and other transportation artifacts.

Local tip: Don't try to fit every museum into one evening. Pick two or three that interest you, check their individual event details, and plan your transportation ahead of time. Some locations are outside the main shuttle routes, so check the official map before heading out.
The Denver Film Festival Just Wrapped Its 49th Year
Before Denver Arts Week takes over, the city's film community has just finished another major annual celebration.
The 49th Denver Film Festival ran October 22 through November 1, 2026, bringing 129 feature-length films, documentaries, and short films to venues throughout the Denver area.
Organized by Denver Film, the festival featured independent, international, and emerging cinema, along with filmmaker conversations, special presentations, parties, awards, and opportunities for audiences to connect with the people behind the films.
Screenings took place at several recognizable local venues, including the Sie FilmCenter, Ellie Caulkins Opera House, MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater, and Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
One of the festival's highlights was its Colorado Spotlight programming, which celebrates filmmakers and stories connected to the state.
Although this year's festival has wrapped up, it's another example of the creative programming that keeps Denver's cultural calendar busy throughout the year.
More Ways to Experience Denver's Creative Side
Denver Arts Week goes beyond gallery openings and museum visits. The 10-day celebration includes live music, dance, theater, comedy, literary events, tours, and special offers from local arts organizations.
Some events are free, while others offer discounted tickets or special promotions. The official calendar makes it easy to browse activities by date and category, so you can find something that fits your interests and schedule.
You don't have to be an art enthusiast to participate. Try a performance you've never seen, visit a gallery in a neighborhood you don't usually explore, or finally make time for a museum you've been meaning to visit.
